What you require to become an ADI

To join any ADI course you need to be over 21, and have held a valid driving licence for at least 3½ years. You’ll need a commitment to learning and an ability to relate well to your pupils, keeping calm, maintaining control and generating trust. You will also need to be able to read a number plate from 90ft / 27.5m.

The DRTN Driving Instructor training (DIT) course has been developed by Approved Driving Instructors and is delivered by ordit registered Approved Driving Instructors.

There are three stages to becoming an Approved Driving Instructor our course has been designed to give you all the tools you will need to successfully pass all three stages.

We supply three easy-to-follow modules that combine home-based learning and 1-to-1 time with your dedicated personal coach.

Study at your own pace and only pay for the hours you require; it normally takes from 6 to 18 months to complete.

Driving Instructor Training Course

The course includes learning tools and techniques to help you, including workbooks and tuition aids, we have tried to break down the comprehensive workbooks into manageable sections of two hours each. Included in the workbooks is information about business and marketing skills to help you once you’ve qualified.

To become a qualified DSA (Driving Standards Agency) Approved Driving Instructor, you’ll need to pass all three parts of the DSA test.
